A word from Ben...

Hello and welcome to Swordfrog, my historical illustrations website.

I created this site specifically to showcase my historical illustrations work as it is a niche area of my work. It is, however, of special interest to me. From an early age I was fascinated by archaeology and history, and so, naturally, I am particularly keen to attract related commissions.

My history includes working as a garden designer, a freelance graphics designer and animator, a manager of a photography department for a reprographics company and a creative development consultant. I am now a freelance designer trading as The Dream Loft, of which Swordfrog - Illustrating History is only a part.

Why Swordfrog?

A sword frog is a piece of kit which fixes your sword scabbard to your belt... At least, it would be if you wore one. I guess I chose the name for this site because I liked the direct historical link which I thought few would clock!

Why The Dream Loft?

Well, I guess it's about chasing dreams really... oh yes, and my studio is my loft where all the dreaming happens!

The Dream Loft is also the name of my larger portfolio where you can view other areas of work I cover.
